Transition to Personal Enrollment
Vanuatu has confirmed the introduction of a mandatory personal enrollment system for all citizenship certificate holders as of August 31, 2024. This new protocol, (currently being rolled out in Vanuatu and forecast to be implemented worldwide during 2025) necessitates that individuals personally present themselves to Immigration and Passport officers to register biometric data and facial recognition. This adjustment aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) standards, enhancing the security features of Vanuatu passports with an encrypted chip containing personal data. This move aims to meet global travel document standards and prevent issues at international borders.
